Two new CPU water coolers from Thermal Grizzly are now available: the Mycro Pro Stainless Steel AMD AM4/AM5 and the Mycro Pro Stainless Steel Intel 1700/1851/1954. The coolers consist of an unplated copper base plate, a stainless steel cooler plate, and an anodized aluminum mounting frame. Connection to the custom water-cooling loop is provided by one inlet and one outlet, each featuring a standardized G1/4-inch thread in the stainless steel housing. The seals (O-rings) are made of highly elastic EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) rubber, which offers high resistance to ozone and UV radiation.
Features
- High-performance CPU water coolers for AMD AM4/AM5 and Intel LGA1700/1851/1954
- Unplated copper coldplate with Ultra-High-Performance microfins (0.2 mm)
- Housing made of stainless steel (S304)
- Mounting frame made of anodized aluminum
- Inlet and outlet ports with standardized G1/4-inch threads

Direct Heat Transfer
The cooler plate of the Mycro Pro Stainless Steel is not nickel-plated to enable the most direct possible heat transfer from the processor to the coolant in the custom water-cooling loop. Since the coolers are mounted on the Integrated Heatspreader (IHS), where liquid metal is generally not used, a nickel barrier is not strictly necessary. Omitting the nickel plating can provide a slight performance advantage compared to a nickel-plated cooler plate. At the same time, eliminating the nickel-plating process from manufacturing reduces the production costs of the cooler. This allows the Mycro Pro Stainless Steel to offer a very good price-performance ratio. As the coldplate is made of unplated copper, the copper may discolor over time due to oxidation.
Ultra-High-Performance Coldplate
Thermal Grizzly's Ultra-High-Performance coldplates for CPU and graphics card water coolers are milled with minimal and highly optimized slit and fin widths. On the unplated copper coldplate of the Mycro Pro Stainless Steel, both the slit width and fin width measure just 0.2 mm. The AMD version features 68 microfins, while the Intel version is equipped with 70 microfins. This high number of thin fins provides a very large surface area through which the coolant can quickly and efficiently remove heat.
Stainless Steel Housing and Standardized Connections
The stainless steel cooler plate and anodized aluminum mounting frame form the outer structure of the Mycro Pro Stainless Steel. The stainless steel housing is made of S304 stainless steel. The inlet and outlet ports feature standardized G1/4-inch threads. Both threads have a depth of 6 mm. EPDM O-rings are used for sealing. The material is characterized by high elasticity as well as good resistance to ozone and UV radiation.
Compatibility
- The Mycro Pro Stainless Steel AMD AM4/AM5 supports AMD's AM4 and AM5 sockets and is compatible with the AM5 High Performance Heatspreader.
- The Mycro Pro Stainless Steel Intel 1700/1851/1954 supports Intel's LGA1700, LGA1851, and LGA1954 sockets and is compatible with the Intel High Performance Heatspreader V1 for LGA1700. The flow inlet has been optimized for LGA1851 processors with the standard heatspreader, but can also be used with LGA1700 CPUs.
- Both coolers are NOT intended for Direct-Die applications.
