Important Note: Compatibility Change for the AMD Ryzen 7000 Direct Die Frame
The AMD Ryzen 7000 Direct Die Frame is no longer compatible with AMD's 7000X3D processors. This is because AMD added an additional layer of adhesive to the packages of the 7000X3D CPUs. This change was made during production, so initially, we declared the AMD Ryzen 7000 Direct Die Frame as compatible with the 7000X3D processors.
We are already working diligently on a new revision of the AMD Ryzen 7000 Direct Die Frame that can be used with the X3D processors. Customers who have already purchased the AMD Ryzen 7000 Direct Die Frame specifically for use with an AMD Ryzen 7000X3D should contact Thermal Grizzly customer service by email at the following address:
The first image comes from PC Watch, a Japanese tech blog, which shows an early, delidded Ryzen 7 7950X3D without adhesive spots on the package. The second image depicts a delidded 7950X3D with the new adhesive spots on the SMDs. These adhesive spots were added by AMD during production and are the reason for the incompatibility of the Ryzen 7000X3D CPUs with the Thermal Grizzly AMD Ryzen 7000 Direct Die Frame.
