Mycro Direct-Die Pro
Product information "Intel 1851 Mycro Direct-Die Pro"
The Intel 1851 Mycro Direct-Die Pro RGB V1 features a jet system on the cooler's surface, and the slot width of the cooling channels has been optimized. The cooler’s cold plate is made of nickel-plated copper and is mounted directly onto the CPU chip. To do this, the motherboard’s Integrated Loading Mechanism (ILM) must be removed, and the CPU must be delidded. The nickel coating on the cooler plate acts as a barrier to prevent gallium-based liquid metal from diffusing into the copper, making multiple applications of liquid metal generally unnecessary.
Properties
- Water cooler for direct-die installation
- Microfin cooler made of nickel-plated copper
- Replaces ILM and heat spreader
- Cover made of acrylic and aluminum
- G1/4-inch fittings
- CPU compatibility list available online
- Only for delidded CPUs! Caution: Warranty void!
Acrylic glass tempering and RGB lighting
Between the cold plate and the anodized aluminum cover is acrylic glass, which undergoes a annealing process after milling to relieve internal stresses. This reduces the risk of stress cracks during long-term use.
RGB LEDs are located under the aluminum lid, controllable via a 3-pin ARGB header (+5V/DATA/GND) on the motherboard. These LEDs illuminate the acrylic under the lid and the G1/4-inch fittings on the lid.

Attention
Removing the heatspreader (“delidding”) of a processor is at your own risk!
The manufacturer's warranty expires when the CPU is delidded! Damage caused by delidding the CPU is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty!
Removing the Integrated Loading Mechanism (ILM) of the mainboard may invalidate the manufacturer's warranty of the mainboard manufacturer!
Compatibility Notice
The Intel 1851 Mycro Direct-Die Pro RGB V1 is only compatible with Intel CPU's that use the LGA 1851 socket.
General Notes on Water-Cooling Products
- Do NOT use in combination with aluminum-based water-cooling components in which the coolant comes into contact with aluminum, such as radiators with aluminum tubes.
- We recommend suitable coolants that contain biocides and corrosion inhibitors and are free of particles that could restrict water flow or clog the loop.
- The custom water-cooling system should be leak-tested with an air pressure tester (maximum 0.5 bar) for at least 1 hour before filling.
- After filling, the system should be checked regularly during the first 24 hours for possible coolant leaks.
- According to Thermal Grizzly's specification, the operating pressure in the custom water-cooling loop must not exceed 0.6 bar. When using components from other manufacturers in the loop, ensure that their maximum operating pressure ratings are compatible with the system.
Scope of Delivery

Note on use with Kapton Insulation Sheets, Carbonaut, and KryoSheet
A thin layer of TG Shield should be used to insulate electronic components. The internal contour of the Mycro Direct-Die is optimized for the use of liquid metal, which can be applied in a very thin layer. The Mycro Direct-Die rest directly on the CPU package (PCB). When Kapton Insulation Sheets are used, there is a risk that the CPU die may not make contact with the Mycro Direct-Die if the Mycro Direct-Die rests on the Kapton Insulation Sheet and the resulting height difference between the CPU die and the Mycro Direct-Die becomes too large.
When thermal sheets such as Carbonaut and KryoSheet are used between the CPU die and the Mycro Direct-Die, the small height difference between the CPU die and the Mycro Direct-Die may result in excessive mounting pressure being applied to the CPU. This can cause operational issues, which may include incorrect memory detection or memory instability.
